Database Analysis/Design

Eòlas Consultants have extensive experience in the analysis and design of large relational databases, (including Oracle and SQL*Server), utilising formal data analysis and design methods.

We are able to offer our services for any part of the development life-cycle of a database, whether the creation of a new database or the enhancement of an existing one. We would offer the following services where appropriate:

• Relational Data Analysis of the data from which it is intended to populate the database.
• The creation of a normalised logical model. (This being at a minimum to 3rd NF)
• The creation of a physical model from the logical model, incorporating any de-normalisation where considered necessary.
• The building and populating of the physical database including the associated referential integrity (i.e. Primary & Foreign keys, Indexes, Mandatory Columns, etc).
• The replacement of an existing database with a new one, including any data migration that this may involve.

 

We can also carry out an audit of an existing database with a view to:

• Improve performance.
• Enhance existing functionality.
• Investigate the feasibility of any proposed upgrade.
• Identify & resolve any inconsistencies in the quality of data and/or its referential integrity.
